So last weekend, Andy and I took a trip to Astoria, Oregon. We camped Friday night at Fort Stevens State Park, where I've apparently already been to when I was 3. (I had no idea til my parents told me haha) It was good weather overnight and we stayed dry in our awesome tent, but the next day was very stormy. We still had a blast though! This is a 100 year old shipwreck: Peter Iredale. I couldn't get close because it was high tide, so I made it work :)

This is where the Columbia River meets the ocean. It was really neat to see!

Okay, seriously the houses in Astoria are awesome. I love weird-looking houses and had to take a picture. This one was my favorite. Someday, I want Andy and I to be able to build our own house and I want it to be UNIQUE :) I'm kinda weird like that.

We got to see the house from the Goonies! Andy looks quite pleased in this picture, doesn't he? :)

Yay for Goonies! We watched it and ate popcorn when we got home Saturday evening :)

We went to Pier 39 as a school assignment. We're taking a Biology class together called Mammals of the Pacific Northwest. It's actually really fun; we have to make a field log with pictures of all the different animals we see. Going to Astoria to see seals was extra credit. Sadly, we didn't see any but we still get the extra points for trying! Look at that attitude! Wow :)

We saw these cow elk at the state park. It was weird to see them only about a half mile from the ocean, but apparently salt is essential for their diet, so that would explain why they were so close to the ocean! (I'm learning a lot from the mammals book; it's such a fun class)

Isn't that a good shot? We saw 4 raccoons all together when we drove into the campsite Friday night.

We had such a fun trip! It was nice to get out and do something fun together and go to a new place (well, at least one I don't remember going to). Astoria is such a cool place to visit. Interesting fact: 1 in 4 houses in Astoria could be named a historical landmark. I know, I'm a nerd...I just love learning! Hope you are all trying to enjoy the Winter months too :)
That looks like SO MUCH FUN. I've always wanted to go to Astoria. Seriously, when I was in HS, I watched Goonies every day. I wish you were doing the truffle-shuffle in that picture :)
ReplyDeleteWe love exploring too-- you guys rock.
Oh, did you guys watch the premier of Portlandia?
I totally should've done the truffle shuffle! Next time for sure lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd we don't have TV so no, we didn't get to watch the premier. What's the show about?
We really did watch Goonies all the time. And I had to click on the picture 6 to see Andy a bit larger. It was worth the extra clicks.
