FRANKENBLIND

Back in January, I started a crazy project that Andy and I were very excited about. We decided custom curtains would be a fun thing to make. (well, we didn't make them; I did) We started off with the idea of a bunch of different fabrics put together like a patchwork quilt. Then Andy suggested we make each piece an odd shape instead of just squares. (much more difficult than it sounds) So we went to JoAnn's and bought 8 different patterned fabrics. Since we have blue, tan and brown bedding, we wanted to stick with those colors and throw in a pop of orange. Andy named this project frankenblind (even though they are curtains, not blinds. But hey, it works) With me working and going to school and feeling super busy and stressed, I was not motivated to work on this difficult project. But since I quit my job, I got excited about finishing them. Also, my lovely grandma was in town last week and she is an amazing seamstress. So she helped motivate me as well by buying me fabric for the back of the curtain panels and encouraging me by saying they will turn out great.
Here is the (almost) finished product. I'm still going to have to fix a few things, but I just want them up

This is the fabric Grandma bought me. I used it for the back, border along the bottom, and the tabs.

Andy and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary this April :) I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful, supportive husband and I am grateful for everything he does for me. Especially when he buys me pretty things...

We bought a grill this last weekend and now Andy has his little man station set up outside :) BBQ hamburgers on Saturday were great!

Well, that's all the updates I have for now. My mom bought tickets for us to go to Time Out for Women in Seattle this weekend! And some of the Horch gals are going with us too...I'm very excited :)

  2. I know, I can't wait! And thanks, I'm still happy too :) The curtains look great from a distance, but up close there are so many things to fix! I'll get around to it someday...
